Second Body Identified in Philadelphia Boat Crash
Two tourists who were unaccounted for out of 37 were found dead on July 9, 2010 two days after the tragic duck boat accident on the Delaware River in Philadelphia. A medical examiner determined that drowning was the cause of death for the two victims, a 20-year-old Hungarian male and a 16-year-old Hungarian female.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the absence of a distress call recording from the small duck tourist boat when it experienced the mechanical difficulties that caused it to stop. Shortly after its engine turned off, the large, unmanned barge crashed into it, causing the boat to sink. The company that conducts the tour, Ride the Ducks, has resumed tours in three of five other locations throughout the United States; however, the Philadelphia duck tour remains suspended until further notice.
